Although 22 years have passed since the September 11th attacks, today will always remain a day of profound national sorrow.

The evil that struck our nation that morning tried to extinguish everything we hold dear — our freedoms; our tolerance of different ways of life; our fight for equality for all people, regardless of gender, ethnicity or belief. They failed.

I'm holding in my heart the families and loved ones of the nearly 3,000 victims, as well as all of the Americans we've lost in the War on Terror. They will never be forgotten.
