Dear John,

My job as a Texas Senator is to represent you. With everything happening in Texas right now, a lot of people want to divide legislators into different camps. But my job is to represent you, and together, we’ve accomplished a heck of a lot for Texans. 

Of the 159 bills I drafted this legislative session, 47 were passed into law. Why? Because I was able to work across the aisle to do my job.

My team and I are proud that, on the issues that matter to Texas families, we’ve got a bill for that …

… such as backup power systems to make sure our community facilities don’t run out when we need them most …

… such as providing psychiatric care in youth treatment facilities, where they need but haven’t been getting them for way too long …

… such as caring for widows whose spouses served in the Dallas police and fire departments …

… and more. Here’s just a brief overview:

It’s true that there is a lot still to fight for in the Texas Legislature, but there’s also a lot that’s been done—and we’ve taken the lead on getting it done.
