Jack, this isn't the email I want to be writing.

After Labor Day we are typically in full election mode, even in the off years like 2023. I would be writing fundraising emails for Daily Kos endorsed-candidates who are working to push forward progressive policies and partner community organizations that are registering, educating, and turning out Democratic voters.

But as I said, this isn't one of those emails.

Unfortunately, this year has been financially difficult for Daily Kos. We have seen two out of three of our revenue sources continually miss their projections. So instead of fundraising for Democratic candidates and grassroots organizations that mobilize voters, we have had to pour our energy into making sure that we, as an organization, can make our own ends meet.

However, even with that in mind, we aren't allowing our financial difficulties to hold us back from our mission of fighting for democracy: Daily Kos is actively recruiting volunteers to connect with millions of potential Democratic voters in some crucial elections this November. Whether or not we get these voters to the polls could decide the outcome of many races across the country this November.

Our efforts have had a noticeable impact on the political landscape, but this costs us real money to achieve such outcomes. Please support our get out the vote effort by donating $5 right now.
