Kathleen founded VoteRiders in response to an increase in voter ID laws. Trained as a lawyer, she wanted to be able to provide clear information and direct help to all voters who faced barriers of costs and confusion in the wake of new voter ID laws.
She named the new organization VoteRiders, hoping it would carry forward the legacy of the Freedom Riders by ensuring everyone had equal access to the ballot box.
Over 11 years and counting, this organization has grown to reach millions of at-risk voters with information and free help. The need for voter ID support has grown dramatically since 2012, but VoteRiders has met the challenge year after year. Kathleen’s vision and dedication has led to a stronger and more equitable democracy for all. Let’s be sure to say thank you by wishing Kathleen a happy birthday! Thanks, Lauren Kunis CEO and Executive Director VoteRiders
