Dear Friend,

Hot Labor Summer just became an inferno!

The United Auto Workers are poised to strike for the first time in almost
five years.(1) Starbucks Workers United is planning a nationwide Day of
Action. Writers and actors are still on the streets, as are hotel workers.

Friend, a year ago, you told us that fair wages and support for
working families were top priorities for you. This is the moment we can
see real change -- and Courage California members can make a difference.

But I’ll be honest with you. At this critical moment, with Hot Labor
Summer coming to a close, the funds we need to continue our worker actions
are dwindling. Donations across the board have fallen 32% this year, and
we already saw declines in 2022 and 2021. It’s just not sustainable.

giant corporations and change working conditions for thousands of people?

Courage California has been a pivotal hub in taking actions like the
Palmdale Amazon drivers’ strike and bringing them statewide attention. Now
Amazon is on the verge of coming to the table with the Teamsters union to
raise pay and address working conditions.(2) We’ve lobbied for better
workers’ rights laws and urged Attorney General Rob Bonta to step up for
workers. We are known statewide and nationally for bringing together
passionate people and shifting the narrative.

Now we are laying the groundwork for even more. We have launched Uplift
California to defeat disinformation. We’ve developed a social media tool
to give our members the power to tell the stories of workers. We’re
collaborating with unions to develop support funds to keep them strong
during strikes.

We know things are hard for our Courage community, especially with
exploding food and health care costs. We’ve cut back in every place
possible -- we are working with fewer staff and less technology supports
than we ever have. But we just can’t win these fights if our members don’t
step up right now.

If you want us to keep changing the face of workers' rights in California,
now is the time to commit to the cause.
