The Georgia Aquarium is magnificent. All five of us were blown away by the incredible aquatic life on display. It made me appreciate our oceans more than ever. But here's the hard truth: These amazing, vital ocean ecosystems are under duress. Just this summer, 100º ocean water destroyed precious coral reefs and killed thousands of fish off the coast of Florida -- not to mention all the overfishing, plastic waste, and toxic pollution already wreaking havoc in the sea.
We all know that burning fossil fuels is heating our planet and causing the climate crisis. But did you know that oceans have absorbed 93% of that heat?? That's why we're seeing rising sea levels, ocean acidification, and so many more destructive effects. We need a Green New Deal AND a Blue New Deal -- sign on now to help me raise awareness and protect our oceans.
