ACTION SPOTLIGHT

Help Cut Climate-Busting Emissions from
Oil and Gas Drilling

Nearly a quarter of the nation’s
greenhouse emissions are tied to fossil fuel drilling on federal
lands and waters.

Fortunately, President Biden's Bureau of Land Management recently
proposed crucial reforms to oil and gas regulations that will
help hold oil companies accountable, limit future drilling on
federal lands, and go a long way toward reducing U.S. emissions.

The agency is inviting public comments on its proposed plan — so
it’s critical that as many people as possible make their voices
heard in support of the strongest possible oil and gas standards.

Urge the Biden administration to
strengthen its proposed oil and gas leasing reforms and protect
public lands. ( [link removed] )

CAMPAIGN UPDATE

A Huge Victory for the Bees — And What’s
Next In the Fight to Save Pollinators

In response to an NRDC lawsuit, a federal
judge last month rejected the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service
(FWS)'s decision to refuse to designate critical habitat for
highly endangered rusty patched bumblebees.

This is a huge win not just for rusty
patched bumblebees, but for all pollinators and other wildlife
that depend on the bee’s habitat for survival. It’s also a
victory for NRDC supporters like you, who sent thousands of
messages to the FWS in defense of these imperiled bees.

The victory makes it more likely that we can protect these areas
from destruction, including pesticide contamination and other
threats, and reaffirms that the Endangered Species Act remains
among our most powerful tools for combatting the biodiversity
crisis.

Unfortunately, bees and other pollinators are still dying at an
alarming rate from a deluge of toxic “neonic” pesticides – and
they need our help.

Urge the U.S. Environmental Protection
Agency (EPA) to ban bee-killing uses of neonic pesticides and
save the future of our food supply. ( [link removed] )

BIG WINS

* Biden Halts Oil Drilling in Arctic
Refuge: The Biden administration canceled leases that were issued
under the Trump administration for oil and gas drilling in the
Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, eliminating a significant threat
to the Refuge’s 1.6 million-acre Coastal Plain.

ACTION ROUNDUP

* Support Climate-Friendly Agriculture
in the Farm Bill: The federal Farm Bill influences every step in
the food chain in the United States, from seed to plate — and
right now, we have a chance to work to transform our food and
farming landscape and its impact on people and the environment.
Congress must act to protect our climate, enhance biodiversity,
and build healthier and more resilient communities. Take action

* Tell the Biden Administration to Strengthen Protections for
Critically Endangered North Atlantic Right Whales: North Atlantic
right whales face serious threats from fishing gear entanglement
and vessel strikes. With fewer than 340 of these whales
remaining, we must act now to save them from extinction. Take
action >> ( [link removed] )
* Protect Health and Fight Climate Change with Cleaner Vehicles:
Transportation is the largest source of climate pollution in the
U.S. and a major source of other health-harming pollutants. New
standards would help combat the climate crisis, protect
communities, and speed the transition to all new vehicle sales
being zero-emission by 2035. Take action >> ( [link removed] )

We are on the frontlines every
day waging fierce courtroom battles and hard-hitting campaigns in
defense of our climate, health, wildlife, and wild places, and to
protect people, vulnerable communities, and the planet. Help us
keep up the fight – make a tax-deductible gift today.
