Hi John -

When the president released his budget with drastic cuts to life-saving foreign aid funding and far too little funding for children here at home, we jumped into action.

We reached out to supporters like you and you came through, generating nearly 20,000 messages to Congress. Thank you!

At the same time, all around the country our amazing volunteers organized local valentine making events to urge Congress and state lawmakers to have a heart and invest in kids. They delivered these valentine's cards to lawmakers – making for a memorable interaction!

Check out some of my favorite photos of their terrific work.

Our Community Action Team in Tacoma, WA organized a valentine card-making party for children and families. They also played bingo, had a cakewalk, made crafts, took photos in our popup photo booth and enjoyed some treats. Sounds fun!

Elementary school students in Lobelville, TN made valentines for their member of Congress, Representative Mark Green (R-TN).

Then we delivered the valentines around the country. Pictured here are our advocates delivering valentines to the offices of Senator Lindsay Graham (R-SC) in Columbia, SC (left), Representative Cheri Bustos (D-IL) in Peoria, IL (center) and Senator Chuck Grassley office (R-IA) in Cedar Rapids, IA (right).
