Governor DeWine Issues Statement on the Death of Former Miami University Cross Country Coach Charles "Chuck" Zody

(COLUMBUS, Ohio)?Governor Mike DeWine today issued the following statement on the death of former Miami University Head Coach Charles "Chuck" Zody.

"Fran and I were saddened to learn of the death of former Miami University Coach Charles "Chuck" Zody.

"Chuck Zody was head coach of cross country and track for 23 years, a member of the Miami University Hall of Fame and the Ohio Association of Track and Cross Country Coaches Hall of Fame.

"He coached our son, Patrick, and our son in law, Bill Darling, as well as thousands of Miami University athletes.

"Coach Zody was a disciplinarian, but he had great love for his athletes. To run for him was to work hard, but his program set up his athletes for success in life in ways that had nothing to do with track and field.

"Fran and I send our condolences to his wife, Pauline, and his family and many friends."
