John —
This week, we had some big news in our Senate race: Former Michigan Congressman, Mike Rogers, announced he is running for the Republican nomination for the open Senate seat here in Michigan.
So what does this mean for us?
Mike Rogers’ announcement sets up a competitive and expensive election for the U.S. Senate in Michigan. Recent polling has shown that the Presidential and Senate races are both statistical dead-heats, which means we’ll have two close races to win in Michigan next year.
We know Mike will try to paint himself as a moderate in this race – but his record in Congress speaks for itself. He was repeatedly one of the top recipients of PAC money in all of Congress, and the special interests always got a great return on their investment: Mike protected the companies that shipped Michigan’s jobs to China, supported Big Pharma’s efforts to keep drug prices high, and even voted to cut Medicare and Social Security.
We know that Mike supports extreme bans on abortion even in the cases of rape, incest, and a common miscarriage if it came to a vote in the Senate.
While there are still other candidates who might jump in the race, National Republicans have made it clear that Michigan is one of their top priorities in their efforts to take control of the Senate and the White House. That means we need to use this moment and send a clear message that, no matter who our eventual opponent is, this will not be an easy seat to flip in 2024.
So given this important inflection point in the campaign: Would you consider splitting a donation of $10 between Elissa Slotkin’s campaign for Senate and UNITEDemocrats? The amount isn’t as important as the donation itself, because every one sends a message about the strength of our grassroots campaign.
If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your split donation between Elissa Slotkin and UNITEDemocrats will go through immediately:
Things just got interesting!
