John, activists have been fighting tooth and nail for over 100 years to add the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) to our Constitution — a landmark amendment that would ensure that our civil rights can't be taken away or infringed upon on the basis of gender.

But since the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade and denied half of the population the right to essential reproductive care, gender discrimination is now the law of the land — and we can't afford to wait any longer for these vital protections.

Thirty-eight states have already ratified the ERA, so we're closer than ever to enshrining it in our Constitution. But a single arbitrary deadline is keeping us from finally certifying this amendment!

Luckily, Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand has introduced legislation that would allow us to ignore this deadline — finally ratifying the ERA and enshrining gender equity in our Constitution. But to get the job done, it's going to take bipartisan cooperation, filibuster reform and a huge outpouring of grassroots support.
