Summer may be coming to an end soon, but Marilyn’s fight for the South Sound community is far from over. In Congress, Marilyn is working to make our community safe, just, and secure – all while tackling the rising cost of living, extreme attacks on health care, and the impact of climate change on the South Sound.

Here are a few updates that we wanted to share with you:

Delivering on Climate Action
Marilyn is proud to be endorsed by the League of Conservation Voters Action Fund as a climate champion because of her work advocating for immediate climate action. Marilyn was proud to vote in favor of the climate investments in the Inflation Reduction Act, securing nearly $370 billion for clean energy, climate resilience, and American jobs.

“...it’s more clear than ever that we need to elect and re-elect congressional champions who will fight for effective and equitable climate solutions at the scale and pace that science and justice demand.”
– LCV Action Fund Senior Vice President of Government Affairs Tiernan Sittenfeld

Fighting for our Priorities
Marilyn’s been hard at work introducing bills to support the WA-10 community:

Last month, we saw Earth’s hottest day on record. And then we broke that record again…and again. That’s why Marilyn reintroduced the Preventing Health Emergencies And Temperature-related (HEAT) Illness and Deaths Act to address the health risks of extreme heat and make sure communities are equipped with the tools they need to combat the effects of rising temperatures.

On the 75th anniversary of the Presidential executive order that desegregated the military, Marilyn introduced the EQUITY Act to codify nondiscrimination in the military. We know that a diverse military is a strong military and Marilyn’s legislation aims to make our armed forces more accessible for and accepting of all communities.

Since Roe was overturned last year, abortion rights have been under attack across the nation, and our military is no exception. That’s why Marilyn joined a bicameral group of legislators to introduce the Military Access to Reproductive Care and Health for Military Servicemembers Act to allow the DOD to fund abortions.

Celebrating Four Decades of the Tacoma Dome
In honor of its 40th anniversary, the Tacoma Dome released a documentary detailing its decades of rich history, and Marilyn is in it!. Click here to watch the documentary and learn more about the history of the Dome.WATCH THE VIDEO [[link removed]]

Marilyn is fighting for South Sound families in Congress. Together, we’ve made historic progress – from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and the Inflation Reduction Act to the first gun safety legislation passed by Congress in nearly 30 years.

Marilyn needs your help to continue fighting for progress. Will you make a grassroots donation of any amount? [[link removed]]
