The Biden administration just recommended that the Drug Enforcement Administration reschedule cannabis under the Controlled Substances Act, which would significantly ease federal cannabis restrictions. We have already legalized cannabis in New Mexico, and this is a huge step toward legalizing cannabis in the United States. But we won’t win without a big grassroots movement, so I’m reaching out to ask if you’ll raise your voice with me:
The truth is that the draconian laws spurred by the War on Drugs have not strengthened our country or made us safer. Instead, people of color are arrested for cannabis possession at disproportionate rates. Families are separated, careers are ruined, and taxpayer money is wasted through incarceration. Entire communities and states are held back from economic growth. Last week’s move from the Biden administration was an important step forward, but we can’t stop there. We need to legalize cannabis across the United States. Please add your name next to mine if you agree >>
