Hi John.
I hope you and your family have had a pleasant summer. I've had a wonderful time connecting with local small businesses, farmers, and families. So today, I wanted to give some quick updates and share some resources that may help you.
Upcoming Pop Up Office Hours
My team is continuing to host Pop Ups across our district. This way we can help people more conveniently in their own neighborhoods. We’re here to help with stalled passports, tax refunds, veterans’ benefits, and more.
I was glad to stop by my team’s Pop Up in Olathe recently. We’re always here to help however we can.
We’ve now helped recover more than $17 million for local taxpayers since I took office. We’ve also helped nearly 6,000 hardworking Kansans. We’d be honored to help you, too.
Here’s our current schedule of Pop Ups across the Kansas Third District for this September:
• Tuesday, September 12th – Paola
• Friday, September 15th – Ottawa
• Wednesday, September 20th – Garnett
• Thursday, September 21st – Spring Hill
If you’re unable to make it to a Pop Up, please feel free to contact us to get help right away. You can also click here to learn more about how we can assist you.
Helping Kansans Find Work
As you may know, Yellow Corporation, a former transportation and trucking company, recently filed for bankruptcy. Yellow employed nearly 1,000 people in our region and I'm concerned for them and their families.
That’s why my office created a new Job Seekers Guide to help. Click here to get a copy in case you or someone you know needs assistance.
My office has also been glad to partner with Johnson County Community College, our local Small Business Development Center, Workforce Partnership, and others to connect people with work. That includes holding a job fair this week to connect people with new job opportunities.
Our Job Seekers Guide can help people find work and get assistance while looking for a job. That includes emergency unemployment insurance and help with health care, bills, or even starting a new business.
I’m disappointed by the layoffs at Yellow, but I’m also gratified that our economy is continuing to create record numbers of good-paying jobs overall. We’re seeing that progress locally with Panasonic’s new electric vehicle battery plant in De Soto.
I hope former Yellow employees, and anyone else who may need assistance, can take advantage of these great opportunities.
It was a pleasure to meet with former Yellow employees at the job fair and offer assistance.

Listening to Kansans
Whether it’s catching up at a local coffee shop or reading your mail, listening to you always helps me do a better job. It all makes a difference and helps inform my decision making.
For example, I’ve been glad to continue my Farm Bill tour throughout the Kansas Third District. I serve on the U.S. House Agriculture Committee, so it’s important to me to listen to local farmers and ranchers so I can bring their voices to Washington.
I visited the Barnes Family Farm in Ottawa this week as part of my ongoing Farm Bill listening tour. The Farm Bill is a major piece of legislation that has a big impact on our state’s largest economic sector – agriculture. I’m making it a priority to listen to our local producers so we can make a strong and bipartisan bill that works for Kansas.
We also held our latest Donuts with Davids recently at my Overland Park office so more folks could have time to come by and share their concerns.
It was great to connect with the Olathe Public Schools Foundation, the Epilepsy Foundation of America, and so many others.
It was a pleasure to meet with folks at our latest Donuts with Davids at my Overland Park office.
Staying in touch with you is incredibly important to me. That’s because my job is to serve every person and corner of our community, regardless of party.
Whether we agree on every issue or not is beside the point. Everyone deserves a government that works for them – not just for special interests, big corporations, or the extremes of either party.
So if you have any questions or would like to share your views, please always feel free to contact me.
It’s an honor to serve you and your family in the U.S. House of Representatives.
My warmest regards,
Sharice L. Davids Member of Congress
