Friend,
With dangerous abortion bans and restrictions on reproductive rights cropping up in states across the country, it's never been more urgent for us to stand united in our fight for reproductive freedom.
Thankfully, states like Illinois have stepped up to protect and even lower the barriers to receive reproductive care, but the truth is we're still on precarious ground here in the Prairie State.
It was only months ago that a Planned Parenthood clinic in Peoria, Illinois -- my home district -- was nearly burned to the ground in a despicable act of political vandalism. As far as my 2024 reelection campaign goes, my Republican opponent just made his position unequivocal at a recent campaign event, stating: "I am pro-life."
In today's Republican Party, we know exactly what being "pro-life" means:
It means voting along with a House-led push for a nationwide abortion ban.
It means accepting a country where women are forced to carry pregnancies against their will.
It means creating the circumstance where thousands of American women have to travel across state lines to receive abortion care.
In Congress, I'm committed to fighting for legislation like the Women's Health Protection Act to codify Roe v. Wade into law, and I'm proud to have been endorsed by groups like NARAL Pro-Choice America for the work I’m doing.
When it comes to reproductive rights, the contrast in IL-17 couldn't be clearer. But this is a critical swing seat that could decide the House majority -- and our ability to halt the right-wing assault on a woman’s right to choose. Please chip in $3 or more to my re-election campaign today.
