Join a Historic March to End Fossil Fuels
[link removed]
We all want fresh air to breathe, good jobs to sustain our families, and a planet where our lands and waters thrive. But in the midst of heat waves, fires, and floods, the continued burning of coal, oil, and gas is threatening our future while wealthy fossil fuel CEOs rake in record profits. That's why on September 17, the Sierra Club is joining the March to End Fossil Fuels to call on President Biden to stop fossil fuel expansion and protect our communities.

School Supplies That Rule

It's that time of year when many of us are shopping for back-to-school supplies like backpacks, notebooks, and pens. It's also an excellent time to keep our families safe from products containing harmful chemicals. Fortunately, there are safer supplies out there!
With a bit of sleuthing, Sierra columnist Jessian Choy (a.k.a. Ms. Green) found options that you and your kids can safely use, reuse, repair, and eventually recycle: [link removed]
Let's Put Climate and Justice at the Forefront of Our Energy Policies
[link removed]
The National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) is a cornerstone environmental law that requires federal agencies to assess the impacts of proposed projects and allows communities to have a say when fossil fuel developments are proposed in our backyards. The Biden administration proposed rule changes that will roll back Trump-era restrictions that made it more difficult to participate and will include climate and environmental justice in decision-making.
Urge the Biden administration to finalize the strongest possible rule to ensure that NEPA serves as a bridge, not a barrier, to a sustainable future: [link removed]
Behind Banks' Smoke Screen

A new report from our Fossil-Free Finance campaign reveals that major banks like Barclays, JPMorgan Chase, and Bank of America are propping up deadly coal plants across the US despite their high-profile net-zero climate commitments. The analysis reveals a massive loophole in the banks' climate commitments through continued lending for companies operating polluting coal-fired power plants.

A Corrosive Issue
[link removed]
The pipe intended to be used for the Mountain Valley Pipeline has been sitting out in the sun for over six years, corroding the metal and making it more prone to explosions. We need your help to stop the construction of this hazardous pipeline and protect families living nearby from potential catastrophe.
Take action. Ask regulators to issue a "stop work order" for this dangerous pipeline due to new safety concerns: [link removed]
Yellowstone Success Story

Better, Cheaper Water Heaters
[link removed]
Most electric water heaters in the United States use outdated technology first developed in the 1940s. Newer heat pump water heaters are more energy and cost efficient, saving consumers money and protecting our planet. Support the Department of Energy's proposed rule to update standards on residential water heaters.
