Help count Bearded Vultures |
|
Every year, over a thousand participants, including experts and volunteers, venture into the European mountains to count Bearded Vultures in the wild during the International Observation Days (IOD). In 2022, 1161 volunteers monitored 723 sites, spotting 638 Bearded Vultures, resulting in population estimates: - Alps: 288-377 individuals
- Massif Central: 6-13 individuals
- Aude in French Pyrenees: 12-22 individuals
- Spain: ±2 in Maestrazgo and 35-65 in Andalusia and Rioja.
Get involved in Bearded Vulture conservation by joining this year's International Observation Days on 14 October. Experts will lead monitoring sessions that are open to all. Collecting data during IOD is crucial for European efforts to protect and revive Bearded Vulture populations, helping scientists understand their habitat and survival rates, guiding reintroduction projects for a brighter future. Join our citizen science event and aid vulture conservation. |
