Dear Friend –

At 83 years old, Nancy Pelosi announced today that she is running for ANOTHER term in Congress. I certainly know 80 year olds can do the job, but that isn't the point. Stay with me on this crucial distinction.

Nancy Pelosi has been in Congress since 1987–Ronald Reagan was President, George Deukmejian was Governor. My opponent, Jim Costa, has been in Congress since 2005–Arnold Schwarzenegger was Governor, George W. Bush was President. The world has changed a lot since both Pelosi and Costa were first elected.

My point is that it isn't just time for new blood in Congress for the sake of new faces. It's important to our future to elect people with fresh perspectives, ideas, and have the energy to make America all that it can be.

As someone who just stepped into my 4th decade, I believe that my experience as a United States Navy Nuclear Submarine Veteran, law enforcement agent, small business owner, and now dad to young kids has equipped me to serve and inspires me to help chart a positive and prosperous path for our country.
