Onein five children in the United States lives in poverty. Nearly half of them aren’t ready for school by age 5.
Today, on International Literacy Day, we're highlighting our Make Summer Fair initiative, that's all about fighting this inequity. With your support, we can set these kids up for success through programs like KinderBoost.
KinderBoost is a free, two-week school readiness program that eases the adjustment to school for low-income children and families. It gives kids a chance to become familiar with their new environment, meet school staff, make new friends and engage in early-learning activities.
Five-year-old Kendon, who lives in rural Arkansas, is just one of the hundreds of kids who have benefitted from the KinderBoost program. In addition to learning and socialization support, the program includes breakfast and lunch each day, school supplies and backpacks and a graduation celebration for kids and their families.
