Friend,
One month ago, the deadliest fires in modern U.S. history ravaged Hawaii, wreaking destruction and displacing thousands from their homes. To this day, survivors are still trying to pick up the pieces of their lives amid the aftermath, but the road to recovery will be a long one.
Read on to see how your support has made all the difference in our ability to respond after this disaster in Hawaii:
DEPLOYING A TEAM: Our team recently met with partners in West Maui, visiting a shelter, a clinic and assistance centers where families are getting medical services and other help. The team gained deeper insight into the community’s most pressing needs, particularly the challenges in treating respiratory issues and mental health.
CRITICAL FUNDS: Americares is supporting two local partners with critical funds to provide mobile medical services to survivors in three hard-hit communities, including Lahaina. Local clinics, community response and outreach teams will also receive handheld radios purchased with Americares funding.
SENDING LIFESAVING SHIPMENTS: Americares has delivered shipments of crucial medical supplies and hygiene items to partners on the ground, as well as lifesaving medical equipment to mobile clinics.
But our work is far from over: Many people are still recovering from the trauma of the fires, and over the coming weeks, our team will continue to seek partnerships and offer resources particularly in the area of mental health and psychosocial support for survivors. This work is only possible because of the generosity of humanitarians like you.
So please, will you make a gift of $125 or more right now so we can continue to help those impacted by disaster in Hawaii and around the world?
