Can you feel it?
Something I learned in my time as Agriculture Secretary and as a member of Congress, you can feel a shutdown coming.
It's like a storm rolling over the hills in the lowlands; the humidity rises, dark clouds smother the sky, and you hear the low rumble of thunder in the distance.
With the government's fiscal year ending on September 30th, Congress is not ready to pass a budget. Tensions are rising between the House and Senate, negotiations are being smothered by far-right extremists, and you can hear the rumbling prattle of extremists angling to get on Fox and Friends.
All the telltale signs of a shutdown.
These MAGA extremists do not represent their constituents, us, or the United States. They only care about themselves. The One Country Project is building a grassroots movement to stop extremists and connect rural communities with Democratic values so we can avoid shutdowns just like the one barrelling towards us. Can we count on you to join our movement today?

Rural communities get hurt the most by government shutdowns. Not only do rural communities disproportionately depend on government programs like VA benefits and food stamps, but our economies are also built around government-backed crop insurance, food inspection, federal land management, and other resources that keep industry in rural America humming along.
A shutdown will fracture our communities, and the longer it goes on, the worse the outcome.
Congress must fund the government, but a group of MAGA Republicans want to force a government shutdown, so they can fight imaginary woke battles on cable television. It's a travesty.
We need a Congress that fights for the people and stands up for rural communities. Our movement is dedicated to electing a Democratic Congress that will stand up for rural voters, will you join the movement today?
