Irving, TX - I hope you and your family had a happy Labor Day!

On Tuesday, I met with the Texas Farm Bureau to discuss the upcoming farm bill as well as border security, our food supply chain, rural connectivity, and other issues facing the industry.

After, I headed to tour the Texas Health Women’s Surgery Center in Dallas. I appreciated the chance to learn more about their work. I’m working to find solutions to increase patient affordability, which is why I co-sponsored the Outpatient Surgery Quality and Access Act.

My next stop was the Dallas VA Medical Center to discuss patient care and tour their facilities. The VA North Texas Health Care System is the second-largest VA medical center. During a typical weekday, VA North Texas will see 3,000 Veterans.

Later that night, I spoke with members of AMAC Action, a non-profit, conservative advocacy organization. We discussed some of the most important issues affecting our nation including the survival of Medicare, impeaching President Biden and AG Garland, the border, the budget and more.

On Wednesday, I attended a breakfast at the Grapevine Chamber of Commerce and provided an update on my work to help our small businesses and to hear from our community leaders. It was great to see the Mayor of Colleyville, Bobby Lindamood, and chamber presidents and CEOs, Robert Sanchez from Colleyville and RaDonna Hessel from Grapevine!

Later, I held a roundtable discussion regarding healthcare with stakeholders from private practice, large hospitals, and small business owners. I’m working to make sure Americans have access to affordable healthcare options, especially during a time of high inflation.

I ended the day by joining the Federal Home Loan Bank (FHLB) of Dallas for a roundtable discussion with industry leaders. We had a robust discussion on the regulatory environment surrounding FHLBs and the financial services industry as a whole.

Texas-24 Work of the Week

Every American is entitled to their earned Social Security benefits but the Windfall Elimination Provision prevents many from receiving these in full. I co-sponsored the Equal Treatment of Public Servants Act to update the outdated formula used by the Social Security Administration which treats teachers, police, and firefighters unfairly even if they paid into Social Security while working a second job in the private sector.

Texas-24 Hometown Hero

Maximus Williamson recently took home gold in the 200 meters individual medley course at the World Junior Championships continuing his streak of record shattering race times.

Congratulations, Maximus, on your win and thank you for representing North Texas well!
