Dear NRDC Supporter,
Big news! The Biden administration canceled leases that were issued under the Trump administration for oil and gas drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, eliminating a significant threat to drill within the Refuge's 1.6 million-acre Coastal Plain.
It's long past time to stop sacrificing irreplaceable wildlife habitat and Indigenous lands to deepen our dependence on the fossil fuels driving the climate crisis.
This puts our future first. It protects the realms of birthing caribou and migratory birds and key denning ground of America's polar bears. It safeguards lands the Gwich'in people rely on for their livelihood.
But the fight is not over. We're working hard to further protect the Refuge and stop other projects like the illegally-approved Willow Project, a climate-wrecking disaster which will expand drilling in another part of Alaska's Arctic. We are also opposing pending plans to expand more reckless drilling of our coasts.
Thank you for your years of support to keep these battles going. Please help NRDC fight to end dangerous, climate-busting oil and gas drilling by making a donation today to protect our environment on all fronts.
We're committed to saving our public lands and waters — and the communities and wildlife that rely on them for survival — and we're counting on your support.
Sincerely,
Garett Rose
