Friend, did you know that a whopping 68% of Californians believe that efforts to protect the environment should be prioritized even at the risk of curbing economic growth!

This is part of a new release of inspiring results from a recent poll by the Public Policy Institute of California (PPIC).

They conducted a survey asking Californians their thoughts about climate change and environmental policy, and here’s what else they found:

83% of Californians are in favor of offshore wind and wave energy projects
50% of Californians have considered buying an electric vehicle
66% of Californians oppose allowing more oil drilling off the California coast
73% Californians are in favor of reducing greenhouse gas emissions in California to 40% below 1990 levels by 2030

It’s become clear that the climate crisis is making its way to the TOP of Californians’ list of concerns, and the vast majority of Californians support the policies our organization is pushing for.

From reducing emissions on a large scale, to expanding offshore wind and other clean energy projects, to electric vehicles and other electrification across sectors, our day-to-day work is DIRECTLY working towards addressing the issues our communities are most concerned about.

But despite having the will of the people on our side, we’re up against multi-billion dollar oil companies whose interests are in direct opposition to ours. We need every bit of support we can get to continue our strategic organizing, lobbying, and accountability work.

Friend, can you make a donation today to allow us to continue doing this important work?

The PPIC poll also found that 7 in 10 California adults report that climate change is having at least some impact in their local communities. 56% of Californians say climate change is one of several important concerns to them personally, with that number shooting to 67% among African Americans.

Concern about climate change is extending beyond theory into peoples’ real lives, with Black, Indigenous, and people of color being the most acutely affected.

And in a time when the voice of the majority is being suppressed by powerful special interests, California Environmental Voters represents the voice of the many.

We are constantly fighting against powerful special interests like Big Oil, which outspend us in elections, lobbying, and public campaigns, so that nobody should be concerned about the future of their communities and their livelihood.

It’s a constant battle, but one that is possible if we have your support. Would you help us fulfill the wishes of our state’s residents by continuing our climate advocacy work?

Thank you for your help.
