Friends, the future of labor rights has continued heating up this summer.
Both the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) and the Department of Labor (DOL) have released recent proposals that expand workers' rights and pay.
The DOL issued new salary thresholds under the Fair Labor Standards Act that would expand overtime pay to more salaried workers and we found that 72% of voters support this move:
The NLRB also released a ruling that requires companies to immediately recognize a union if they commit unfair labor practices during a union election. And 64% of voters support this pro-union move:
These two changes are major strides that will make it much easier for workers to get the pay and benefits that they deserve. Seeing the support voters have for these policies should send a signal to elected officials that voters are ready and excited for more labor protections in the future.
