Hi John,

Something that has been on my mind lately is accountability. I’m in recovery -- I’ve been sober from alcohol for more than 30 years. And in order to stay sober, I have to consistently hold myself accountable for my own actions, and own up when I have fallen short.

The contrast between the principles upon which I’ve rebuilt my life and what’s happening on the national stage is staggering. Brett Kavanaugh couldn’t own up to his own inebriated and injurious actions -- and now he’s on the Supreme Court. Mitch McConnell takes pride in how effectively he’s shirking his duties as a legislator by calling himself the “Grim Reaper of the Senate”. Donald Trump was impeached for his abuses of power -- and he’s taking it to the next level by enacting revenge against those who dared shed light on his crimes.

And then there’s Susan Collins. She was the vote that confirmed Brett Kavanaugh. She’s gone on the record saying that she will vote for Mitch McConnell to be Senate Majority Leader AGAIN if she is reelected. She voted to acquit Donald Trump of his crimes. Absolutely no accountability.

People like me have a saying: Nothing changes if nothing changes. And it’s clear that this lack of accountability for those at the highest level has to change.

Be the change you want to see: Donate now to help the Maine Dems defeat Susan Collins, beat Donald Trump, and elect Democrats up and down the ticket. [ [link removed] ]

Thanks for all that you do,

Kathleen
