Thank you for stepping up for our recent fundraising deadline! With Micheal Cohen announcing that he might run for my seat in Congress, it is crucial that we prove our strength.
In August, I spent time meeting with community leaders and constituents across our district to hear about what matters most to working families, what issues are top of mind and how our team can continue to improve lives for New Yorkers.
I stood in solidarity with WGA and SAG-AFTRA members on the picket line as they continue their fight for fair contracts. I was also able to meet with Moms Demand Action to discuss how we can continue to work together to create solutions to end the epidemic of gun violence in America.
After introducing the Strengthening Medicaid for Serious Mental Illness Act, I was able to tour the non-profit Fountain House in Hell's Kitchen that focuses on helping the community of those affected by mental health. This bill will provide more resources to treat serious mental illnesses, something crucial for our state.
I joined Ryan Health NYC’s Baby Shower Fair event for expecting and new parents to discuss the new protections in place under my Pregnant Workers Fairness Act which is now law! And I had the chance to tour the Smithsonian’s Cooper Hewitt Museum, one of our district’s many cultural gems.
Thank you for your support for this past month. We knew this election cycle was going to come with challenges, but with your help we are able to prove our grassroots support.
Onward,
Jerry
P.S. If you weren’t able to contribute toward our August deadline, please consider making a contribution today ahead of our first Federal Election Commission (FEC) deadline since Michael Cohen announced his potential challenge on September 30. It’s more critical than ever that we prove our fundraising strength when our numbers go public.
