Congressman Al Green Recognized in Houston Chronicle for Donation to Rename Street with Name of Confederate Enslaver

(Houston, TX) — On Wednesday, September 6, 2023, Congressman Al Green is featured in a Houston Chronicle article authored by Juhi Varma entitled “Missouri City ditches street named after a KKK leader.” Among other things, the article highlights Congressman Al Green’s donation of $1,975.40 to facilitate the renaming of two streets in the Vicksburg Village of Shiloh subdivision in Missouri City, Texas. The streets renamed were associated with Nathan Bedford Forrest, a Confederate general and first grand wizard of the Ku Klux Klan.

Congressman Green will make additional contributions to assist with the renaming of streets bearing names of perpetrators and/or perpetuators of the great crime against humanity known as slavery.

The article is available online on The Houston Chronicle’s website here.
