On Thursday evening during the annual Northwest Suburban Republican Lincoln Day Dinner in Niles, President Donald Trump was victorious in the 2024 presidential straw poll, defeating Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis 47-22.
Nikki Haley came in third with 11 percent of the vote; Vivek Ramaswamy in fourth with 7 percent; Mike Pence 4 percent and Tim Scott 3 percent.

Donald Trump Jr., the eldest child of President Trump will be making several stops in Illinois next month as part of a national book tour to promote Letters To Trump ([link removed]) – a 319-page book that captures the private correspondence between President Trump and some of the biggest names in history over the last 40 years.
The
McHenry County GOPAC ([link removed]) is hosting an event for Trump Jr. at 11:00 am on October 27th, and Darren Bailey ([link removed]) is hosting a book signing party later that same evening in Effingham. Private events, including a lunch, will take place in between, and a full schedule has not yet been released.
But as preparations are underway for the VIP visit, sources can confirm to Illinois Review that
AM 560 radio host ([link removed]) and state central committee member Jeanne Ives, who announced in May that she was backing Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’ campaign for president – recently sent emissaries to try and secure special “VIP” treatment during the high profile visit, including a request for an interview with Trump Jr. on her Sunday evening radio show and a request to speak on stage during one of the stops on the book tour – but the requests were all denied.
In the Trump world, loyalty means everything – and throwing one’s support behind DeSantis, who trails President Trump by over 40 points, is a non-starter.
On Wednesday morning, the
AM 560 radio host ([link removed]) took to her Facebook page and attacked IR for its reporting, alleging that this publication – the leading conservative news source in Illinois, is “full of lies.”

Ives’ Facebook comments were all over the map. After attacking this publication, she then tried to walk back her support of DeSantis’ presidential campaign, and in another comment she pivots and then shockingly attacks the upcoming visit with the former president’s son, falsely claiming that the Donald Trump Jr. event in Addison can’t sell tickets.

The AM 560 radio host even went so far as to falsely suggest that members of the Trump Jr. team reached out to her office in DuPage County and asked to promote the event on her radio show and schedule an interview, and she “declined.”

Sources confirmed to Illinois Review late Thursday that the Trump Jr. team was not impressed with the AM 560 radio host’s comments.
A more detailed schedule of the book tour will be posted on Illinois Review when it becomes available.
