Friends, this is not going to be one of those emails where I compare our FEC fundraising deadline this month to an actual crisis.

It’s just my honest request that you make a donation of $25 (or more) to help my campaign reach our $22,000 FEC End-of-Quarter fundraising goal, hyperbole-free.

Although our campaign may not be facing a crisis, our country is dealing with several all at once.

We’re facing a constitutional crisis where Republicans aren’t just refusing to honor the oaths they swore as elected officials, but are actively working to dismantle the values, norms, and institutions our democracy depends on, just to remain in power.

We’re facing a climate crisis that poses an existential threat to our future – and worse, the climate deniers in Washington have forced us to fight with both hands tied behind our backs as our window to act quickly closes.

We’re facing a crisis of freedom as Republicans attack the right to choose, target the LGBTQ+ community, wage a war against education, and undermine freedom of speech and expression.

I’m not going to pretend that keeping me in Congress is the cure-all for the complex problems we face as a country. But I recently got my first GOP opponent of the cycle, and if we let them gain a foothold to flip IL-06, Republican leaders will have one more badly-needed vote for their dangerous agenda.

So with all that in mind, will you consider contributing to my FEC fundraising goal? Every contribution helps us get a lead over my right-wing opponent and ultimately, defend this competitive district next year.
