September is here, a few red leaves are beginning to peek out among the green, and it’s almost time for one of our favorite events of the year – the Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association (MOFGA) Common Ground Fair!

The fair is held every year at MOFGA’s Common Ground Education Center in Unity, Maine. It’s a lively event filled with local food, inspiring speakers, and exhibits emphasizing sustainable living – and is a great way to connect with others committed to protecting Maine’s environment and communities. September 22, 23, and 24 , all day long, MCV will be at a booth in the Environmental Concerns tent. Here’s a map of the fairgrounds [[link removed]] – come find us!

At our booth, you’ll find our 2023 Environmental Scorecard, a tool to hold legislators accountable for their votes on issues impacting Maine’s environment, communities, climate, and democracy. We’ll have postcards for you to write to your lawmakers about their votes this session and would love to chat with you about the Scorecard and everything else we’ve been up to this year.

In addition, you’ll have the opportunity to “Pledge to Vote” this fall, and we’ll be talking about Question 6, one of the eight ballot questions that Mainers will be voting on this November. Question 6 would require the reprinting of the Maine Constitution to include all provisions, including the State of Maine’s obligations to the tribes who have inhabited Maine since time immemorial.

We’re looking for volunteers to staff our table with us in the Environmental Concerns Tent on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday! If you’re interested in getting a closer look at the work we do, connecting with fellow supporters at the fair, and spending time together in person – please respond to this email and we’ll get you signed up for a shift.
