Join us in petitioning the Government to end the cruel and unnecessary cull of badgers in England |

Dear John,
At the start of the summer, we wrote to you to ask for your support in lobbying the Government to end the cruel cull of badgers in England.
Despite our efforts, DEFRA has just released new details of badger culling licenses for the remainder of 2023, which could lead to a further 24,000 badgers being brutally shot.
This would add to the 210,000 already slaughtered since 2013 in flawed efforts to reduce the spread of bovine TB in cattle.
|
While it’s a relief that no new cull areas have been licenced this year, nevertheless it’s devastating to learn that tens of thousands more badgers are to lose their lives in 29 existing cull zones that stretch from the South West to the East Midlands, for the sake of this unscientific, inhumane and ineffective policy.
The Government has ignored independent science that clearly demonstrates culling isn’t working, while providing no credible evidence of its own to justify its claim that it is. At a time of crisis for wildlife and biodiversity, we cannot afford to play politics with animals’ lives.
We are asking for your help once more, to tell the Government this senseless slaughter needs to stop.

We are aiming to reach 5,000 signatures on our petition to end the badger cull, to support our calls to DEFRA to reconsider their badger culling policy.
