John,

We need you in our Fight to Pass the EQUAL Act

As the EQUAL Act remains in the Senate Judiciary Committee, failing to
advance, we have reached a make-or-break moment in our campaign. We need
your help to turn up the heat on the Hill to convince leadership it's time
to correct this long-standing racism in our justice system. The Dream.Org
team will use your donation to build grassroots pressure on key lawmakers
— or our opponents will succeed in blocking a floor vote before important
windows close. This will lead to thousands of our brothers, sisters,
parents, and friends having their lives undone due to the racism baked
into our laws.

Our Progress So Far

In 2021, the EQUAL Act was introduced into Congress and passed the House
of Representatives with overwhelming bipartisan support. We continued that
momentum in the Senate, but we ran out of time at the end of the session
last year. Earlier this year, we reintroduced the bill in the Senate. Yet
months later, the EQUAL Act continues to await advancement — we must turn
up the pressure to act now!

The 18-to-1 Ratio and Why It Matters

The EQUAL Act will end the crack cocaine sentencing disparity — which
currently stands at 18:1 — compared to powder cocaine. This 18:1 ratio
isn't just a number; it's a symbol of systemic injustice. For every 1 gram
of crack cocaine, a person is sentenced as if they had 18 grams of powder
cocaine. This disparity is a racist holdover from the War on Drugs, and
it's time to end it.

The Power of Collective Action

We've come a long way, but the road ahead is still challenging. With
pressure from grassroots supporters like you, we believe we can convince
leadership that we must eliminate this abhorrent 18-to-1 disparity once
and for all. But to cross the finish line, we need something more — we
need you. Your support can tip the scales and make a lasting impact.

Your $18 Can Make a Profound Impact

Your gift to Dream.org is vital right now. We will use your funding to
fight against racist and unjust drug laws and help end mass incarceration.
Imagine the power of collective action — if each one of us contributed
just $18, we could see the EQUAL Act enshrined into law. But you aren’t
just helping us advance the EQUAL act — you are taking a stand, helping us
highlight the 18-1 discrepancy that has been one of the most
consequential, disastrous, and blatantly biased policies of the 20th
century. With your donation, Dream.Org will mobilize resources, build
bipartisan support, and push for a vote in the Senate Judiciary Committee.

The Time to Act is Now

We're at a critical juncture. The need for urgency is real, and we can't
afford to wait. Congress’ failure to act is putting lives at stake,
tearing apart families, and causing communities to suffer. Until Congress
votes on the bill, thousands of people will remain behind bars.

No Retreat, No Surrender: Donate Now!

Because these fights aren't over in a week, a month, or even a year, your
continued support is vital. We will never back down from the fight to end
this racist law. Together, we can make history and transform our criminal
justice system.

Thank you for being a part of this journey. Together, we can close prison
doors and open doors of opportunity.

In solidarity,
— Dream.Org
P.S. Every dollar counts in this fight for justice. Any amount you [ [link removed] ]donate
will help us get closer to ending this racist vestige of the war on drugs.
