Friend,

The Dayton, Ohio shooter was stopped in less than 30 seconds. In that half-minute of violence, he murdered 9 people and injured 27 others. In a separate terrorist attack in El Paso just hours earlier, a gunman was able to murder 22 people. These domestic terrorists were able to cause mass casualties because they were armed with assault rifles. It’s the same weapon that's been used over and over again in mass shootings that have left hundreds of Americans dead. It’s a weapon that at one point was banned in our country, but was put back in the hands of killers by the GOP's inaction.

It’s time to ban assault weapons for good. These are weapons of war that have no place in our communities. We cannot continue to simply offer condolences on Twitter and then wait around for the next tragedy to occur. We need to take action. It’s time to tell Congress to pass an Assault Weapons Ban.
