As the new school year begins, I can’t help but think about the critical role education plays in our children’s lives and how important it is to fight for, and expand access to, quality education.
Here I am dropping my daughter off at college!
As a mother of three, and a former litigator and adjunct professor, I’ve seen the power of education first hand. In my pro bono work, I fought for students with special needs to have the access and care they deserve while seeking an education.
But in the midst of recovering from pandemic learning setbacks, House Republicans want to cut spending on education at every level. Their proposals are not only out of touch with what our kids are facing in school, but put even more of a burden on our teachers and the most vulnerable students.
This is deeply concerning, but what gives me a chill down my spine is knowing national Republicans could implement these backward policies if they succeed in winning the Presidency and Congress.
It’s not an overstatement to say our children’s future makes winning our campaign in CA-47 even more important.
Republicans hold a five seat majority in the House, and are doing everything possible to not just hold power, but expand it. If we want to keep this open seat blue, flip the House majority, and pursue education policies that benefit our students, we need our grassroots supporters to step up.
