John,
If you have been waiting for the right time to directly support my campaign for Senate in Michigan, Republican Mike Rogers' entry into the race this week means there is no better time than right now. This is now a real race, with real stakes for all Michiganders.
This is a huge moment in my race, and I am so proud to have EMILYs List by my side. This community was made for fights like these. Will you consider splitting a donation between my campaign and EMILYs List right now?

As the Associated Press put it, Rogers' announcement "could immediately make the race one of the most competitive in the country." Mike Rogers supports abortion bans with no exceptions for rape, incest, or common miscarriage; has an A-rating from the NRA; and voted to cut Social Security and Medicare.
Which is to say, based on his record, this shouldn't be a close race, but we know it will be. Recent polling shows a statistical dead-heat in both the Senate race and the Presidential race here in Michigan — which means we'll have two really close races to win in this important battleground next year.
Rogers' candidacy makes this race competitive — and expensive. I can't win it without the help of communities like EMILYs List, who fight hard for me and for Democratic pro-choice women like me nationwide.
So given this important inflection point in the campaign, I'd love for you to consider splitting a contribution between my campaign for U.S. Senate and EMILYs List. Every contribution really does make a difference in our ability to win here in Michigan and elect pro-choice candidates nationwide:
Thank you for considering it today,
Elissa
