I want to share the profound experience I had at the 60th anniversary of the March on Washington in our nation’s capital a couple weeks ago.

I stood with fearless leaders for racial justice and civil rights, speaking from the same place that Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. delivered his deeply inspirational "I Have a Dream" speech, which mobilized a movement to enact the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Voting Rights Act of 1965. Today, that call for justice echoes in our ongoing fight for immigrants’ rights.

I had the privilege of amplifying NILC’s voice and our fight for immigrant justice amidst the rallying cry of tens of thousands of activists on the National Mall. Please take a moment to hear what I had to say >>>

Throughout the march, it was striking to hear each speaker take stock of how the progress we’ve made is unraveling and how white supremacy is on the rise across the country. At the same time, it was encouraging to see movements injecting energy into one another and banding together in our broader fight for justice. 

We face a tough road ahead in our fight to fulfill a vision of a country in which we all have the freedom to thrive. Our response must be united. We need to demonstrate to Congress, state governments, and the U.S. Supreme Court that we stand firm against injustice. We will not yield. We will not falter.

With the strength of those who marched before us and with us on August 26, it is clear that our fights and our fates are intertwined. Tu lucha es mi lucha. Your struggle is my struggle.

Together, let us march toward justice.
