Hi friend,

It’s been a busy few weeks on the trail in IL-17!

I’ve been spending a lot of time meeting new folks and attending some fun events, so I thought I’d share some updates below.

I hope you enjoy these last few weeks of summer. Thanks again for all your support!

Last month, I attended ‘Floatzilla,’ an annual fundraiser to support River Action, a local nonprofit in the Quad Cities dedicated to protecting the Mississippi River. Over 5,000 folks come together from all over the country to kayak - and you can even go through the canal system! 😁

Just outside the district in Hennepin, I had the opportunity to visit Marquis Energy, an innovative company fighting to reduce plastics consumption and produce more environmentally friendly ethanol. They’re also working to produce sustainable aviation fuel, which is so important since aviation is responsible for 2.5% of all global emissions!

In Peoria, I had the opportunity to engage in meaningful conversations with members of the local NAACP chapter and participate in a walking tour of the 61605 neighborhood. This community is historically economically disadvantaged, and in Congress, I’m actively working to secure over $1 million in federal funding for crucial infrastructure and housing projects for the area.

And finally, we brought together the Illinois Democratic Party county chairs from all 14 counties in the district, as well as our central committee members, to thank them for their hard work this cycle and last cycle. Meeting the folks who fuel our campaign is an important reminder of the power of grassroots organizing.

I think traveling across the district and hearing from residents all along the way is one of the most rewarding parts of running a campaign. Because it’s so important to meet the folks I represent in Washington face-to-face.

Summer is soon ending – and so is our third fundraising quarter. If you can, would you be able to make a small contribution to keep us moving on the ground? Every cent helps us connect with voters across the district! [[link removed]]
