And it highlights the awful state of the GOP in Colorado.   John, You really can't make this stuff up: the Colorado Republican Party has hired one of Trump's former lawyers and one of the 18 co-defendants under criminal indictment for election subversion in Georgia, John Eastman, to handle their legal crusade to block unaffiliated voters from participating in their primaries: Fun facts about John Eastman: not only has he been indicted for multiple felonies in Georgia for his role in Trump's scheme to undermine the valid election results in 2020, he is also facing disbarment in California. Eastman is a toxic figure that masterminded Trump's criminal attempts to hold on to power after he clearly lost reelection in 2020. Eastman wrote a now-infamous memo that detailed how and why Trump could cling to power even after losing—absolutely fantastical notions and novel theories that even the likes of Vice President Mike Pence rejected out of hand. But none of that seems to trouble the CO GOP. "He's competent and qualified, and the right man for the job," said Republican State Sen. Kevin Lundberg. They have hired Eastman to lead their lawsuit to prevent unaffiliated voters—who have rapidly become a major voting bloc in Colorado elections—from casting ballots in state primaries. This news is important because it highlights just how weak, deranged, and self-destructive the GOP is here in Colorado. As we set our strategies to defend Rep. Yadira Caraveo in the new 8th district, and to unseat Lauren Boebert in the Western slopes, we need to be ready for whatever the state MAGA Republican leaders throw at us.
