Hello John,
Across the U.S, whether we live along the coast, country roads, or city streets, we all deserve the power to keep our homes warm in the winter, cool in the summertime, and safe in a changing climate.
But from blackouts in New York to the Pacific Northwest, and wildfires exacerbated by the dangers of downed power lines from California to Hawaii, we see how greedy power company executives and their shareholders leave our communities in the dark, time and time again.
Now, these same decision-makers are using disaster funds to invest in fossil fuels, rather than real climate solutions: the administrator of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), Deanne Criswell, is giving $12 Billion of our tax dollars to power company executives and their shareholders, rather than to the Puerto Ricans who need it most.
That’s right: in Puerto Rico, where our taxpayer dollars were committed for rebuilding a stronger energy system, Criswell is handing our money to greedy entities that have pledged to recreate the same, failing grid. Together, from Puerto Rico to Alaska, we’re standing up to say that we’ve had enough with these energy monopolies!
