In today’s world, access to affordable broadband is vital for almost everything. Students need it for their homework, parents need it to pay bills and make ends meet for their families, and frankly, we all need it for a little entertainment after a long day.
That’s why closing the digital divide was a key priority of the American Rescue Plan and the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law passed by House Democrats and the Biden administration.
These two pieces of legislation created the Emergency Broadband Benefit and the Affordable Connectivity Program to provide affordable and accessible broadband access for low-income households – and we’re already reaping the benefits right here in Massachusetts' Third District.
Last month, Lori published a report that found these programs have helped 27,000 households in our district, reducing broadband costs by nearly $10 million annually.
Team, these are the kinds of tangible gains working Americans need Congress to deliver. But we can’t continue making progress on this issue and many others plaguing working families if Republicans maintain control of the House.
