DEAR FRIENDS,

This past weekend was a rough and brutal weekend. Three locations of rodeos, over the course of three days. Unfortunately, even with all your calls and emails, the rodeos all happened.

Some good news is that Saturday was relatively uneventful. Prods were not being used, horsed were not being beaten, and over-use was at a minimum.

But Monday was a different story. Electric prods were being used, even though they were attempting to hide it, we of course saw their abuse. Horses were being beaten, and steers were being injured with no veterinary care.

Several steers were injured on Monday. There were some deglovings, and some mildly lamed legs.

All of those steers were lucky enough to be loaded up and brought back to their farm. But the steer with the broken leg was left behind and abandoned due to his injuries. We went to the Sheriff’s office to demand that they check on this steer. By the time the deputies arrived at the property and were allowed on, the steer was gone.

We need your help to stop this from happening again! We have 2 more rodeos this weekend. We are trying to get them stopped before they can injure any more animals. We have reached out and have not received a response.

We need them to know how many people are watching their actions!

Please email [email protected]. Ms Payton is the Animal Control Administrator. She needs to assist in shutting down the indefensible and illegal animal abuse occurring at 18225 Briggs Street Joliet, Il on Sunday, Sept 10.

Please email [email protected] as well. There is a rodeo happening frequently at 16989 E. Ritchie Road Rochelle, Il. We need Mr. Christensen to act! This rodeo is consistently abusing animals by being shocked, beaten, overused in the extreme, as well as injured animals receiving no veterinary care. All of this abuse violates the Illinois Humane Care for Animals Act.

Steer with broken leg.
