Dear Friend,
Yesterday, the Virginia General Assembly passed long-delayed budget amendments that put Virginia families first. While Youngkin and his fellow Republicans pushed for massive and permanent tax cuts for large corporations, Democrats fought hard to fund education, increase support staff in schools, invest in critical mental health services, and protect working families.

Youngkin keeps talking about a budget surplus. Well, it’s a surplus that doesn’t really exist. It’s a “surplus” that has been built by underfunding and/or defunding essential public services. As a recent study revealed, our schools have been underfunded by more than $3.5 billion, and our children have paid the price. With the passage of the budget amendments yesterday, Democrats pushed to address these critical needs by investing an additional $645 million in public education.
Budgets reflect values. Yesterday’s budget decisions demonstrate the values of the Democratic leadership: education, health care, mental health, our environment, housing, and more. We fought for Virginia’s families. We fought for Virginia’s future. |
