We’re already staring down our monthly fundraising deadline, which means two things: (1) This year is moving way too fast; and (2) I need to send you an email like this, asking you to chip in to help before the end of the month.

Let me explain why this deadline is so important. The numbers show this race is in a dead heat. I’m confident we can win, but this is when we need to put our heads down and work our hardest.

Building a grassroots campaign that’s in a position not only to compete with Mitch McConnell’s special-interest money machine, but to defeat it, will be no walk in the park. Every single day of this campaign going forward is going to require a little something extra from the people who want to see us succeed.

Mitch’s relationships with corporate donors and wealthy special interests—cultivated over his 35 years in the Senate—will be enough to bankroll a whole host of nasty attacks against us. They’ll do and say whatever it takes. That’s how they do business.

But they don’t scare me. Because of you, and the team we’re building together, I’m ready for anything they throw my way.
