Monday marks 22 years since our nation was attacked on September 11, 2001, a day that forever changed our country and the world.
It’s a day that means so much to so many. We grieve for those who were lost that fateful Tuesday and in its aftermath. We remember the courageous first responders who rushed into danger to save hundreds of lives. And we honor the troops who signed up to serve and defend America, our allies and our democracy after such a devastating attack.
So before our country recognizes Patriot Day on Monday, the USO is asking 100,000 patriotic Americans via email and text message to sign the card honoring our troops, and I’m personally asking you: Will you add your name before our Sunday goal deadline at midnight?
As someone whose brother and husband were both inspired to join the military after September 11, I can tell you firsthand the immense sacrifices our troops and their families make every day to serve and protect our country. The time spent apart or worrying as they face danger and uncertainty is time military families will never get back. But we sacrifice it willingly because our freedom, our country and our ideals must be defended.
Having the support and gratitude of the American people truly does help. So please, for every American service member risking their life and missing their family at this very moment, will you take just a moment to add your name and say thank you?
Thank you so much.
