In just a moment I am going to ask you to make a contribution directly to Congresswoman Yadira Caraveo’s (CO-8) reelection campaign. But first, I need you to know why your support for Yadira is so important.

Yadira’s story is not like most lawmakers.

She began her career as a pediatrician in Adams County, CO to give back to her community. She was helping children heal every day, but with 65% of her patients’ families on Medicaid, it didn’t take long for her to see that truly helping children required a lot more than what she was able to do as a doctor.

Too many families she saw were falling through the cracks, struggling with jobs that paid a livable wage, health care costs, child care, and paying rent. And not much was happening to address those issues. She realized that if something was going to change, she needed to join the fight. So Yadira began her career in public service.

Yadira is not just an advocate or a doctor, but a leader who fought to pass legislation to force drug companies to lower the cost of prescriptions, drastically limit the toxic pollution that is endangering our kids’ health and our planet, expand funding for preschool, ensure all Coloradans have access to paid family and sick leave, and protect renters in Colorado from eviction during the pandemic.

This year, Yadira brought her medical expertise and genuine desire to help others to Congress. She understands how the health care system works from the inside and brings a unique perspective to health care reform. So, we need to do all we can to make sure that she keeps her seat.
