There's nothing like the energy on that first day! After 40-some years in the school system, I think I would know. 😂

I've seen Back to School from all angles -- from my first year as a young student in Harlem to my tenth year as principal in the Bronx.​​ The excitement of starting the school year is so real, for everyone involved.

But the truth is, we still don't do enough to support our students or our teachers. Students who want to learn face unacceptable barriers, and teachers burn themselves out as they fight to help kids overcome those obstacles.

Supporting students and educators is always top of mind for me in Congress -- especially around Back to School time. So join me right now in wishing them well! 👇🏿
