The Vital Worship, Vital Preaching Grants Program at the Calvin Institute of Christian Worship is designed to foster, strengthen and sustain well-grounded worship in congregations throughout USA and Canada. Two streams of grants are offered--to teacher-scholars and to worshiping communities.
We welcome grants on a wide range of Christian worship practices, with particular interest in universal design, preaching, cultural engagement, and practices related to baptism and the Lord’s Supper.

Grants to worshiping communities are especially focused on projects that connect public worship to intergenerational faith formation and Christian discipleship, a theme that can unfold in many facets of worship from Bible reading to preaching and listening to sermons, public prayer, baptism, the Lord’s Supper, congregational song, visual arts, storytelling, and more. We encourage grant proposals developed through a collaborative process from emerging and established churches; seminaries, colleges, and schools; hospitals, nursing homes and other tax-exempt organizations.
The Vital Worship Grants Program also offers grants to teacher-scholars, supporting integrated research projects that connect Christian worship with other disciplines of study and practice—liberal arts, theological education, or sciences.
