The Federal Reserve released its Beige Book Wednesday, revealing modest growth in July and August. Consumer spending on tourism was stronger than expected but other retail spending continued to slow, especially on non-essential items.
The Senate Wednesday confirmed Philip Jefferson to serve as vice chair of the Federal Reserve Board of Governors 88-10. Jefferson is a current member of the Fed and succeeds Lael Brainard as vice chair for the remaining four years of his term.
