Americans work hard. And it shows. Since 1950, worker productivity in the U.S. has increased an impressive 434%.
What doesn’t show, not often, is the contribution made by domestic workers. These are the unsung heroes at the heart of our nation’s productivity—the workers who make other work possible. They’re the nannies, house cleaners and homecare workers who tirelessly look after our loved ones and homes. Their efforts are crucial yet undervalued, which leaves them vulnerable to low pay, abuse, sexual harassment, and a lack of protections and rights.
